EPS Forum 2024 - European Physical Society

As a delegate of the International Association of Physics Students (IAPS), I had the opportunity to participate in the EPS Forum 2024 of the European Physical Society (EPS) from 25 March to 27 March 2024, which was located in the Henry Ford Building of the Freie Universität Berlin (Free University of Berlin) in Germany.

The EPS Forum was a three-day international event aimed primarily at European researchers, doctoral students and postdocs. These had the opportunity to engage in a dialogue with each other and with representatives from academia and industry in order to expand their professional network and exchange information about their research on an international level.

A highlight of the EPS Forum - and a very inspiring experience for me as a physics student - have been the lectures by Anne L'Huillier (Nobel Prize in Physics, 2023), Klaus von Klitzing (Nobel Prize in Physics, 1985), and Stefan Hell (Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 2014). For the IAPS delegation, the official programme was complemented by additional sessions, such as meetings with Luc Bergé, President of the European Physical Society, and Young-Kee Kim, President of the American Physical Society.

The EPS Forum 2024 was a unique opportunity to represent the International Association of Physics Students on a global scale and to connect with thought leaders in physics and the presidents of our various (inter-)national physics communities.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire IAPS delegation team, especially the current IAPS president Cyrus Walther, who made it possible for me to be a part of the IAPS delegation. I would also like to thank the organising committee of the EPS Forum and the other participants who helped to make this event such a unique experience.
